Our Story
“Know that knowledge is a seeker of certainty,
and certainly is a seeker of vision and intuition.”
-Rumi, The Mathnawi, Volume III
Growing up in a traditional Indian household where my Mother practiced ayurvedic healing principles when we were sick created a lasting imprint on me. Even when we moved to Canada and eventually to the USA, she never abandoned her roots of using things in the kitchen to whip up a concoction for a cold, cough, or general immunity boost. One ingredient that she used commonly was Turmeric root, also known as Olena, kuruma, curcuma, etc. Turmeric’s botanical name is Curcuma longa. Turmeric has been used medicinally for over 4,500 years across many different countries.
When I moved to Hawai‘i in 2004, I was enchanted with the farming culture and how pure the air and soil were compared to other places. And over the years, I saw the farming culture grow stronger here in Hawai‘i and the resurgence of wanting to go back to the local land and be more self-sustainable. Farmers have also been the backbone of any civilization as they still are to this day. I am honored and humbled to be a part of sustaining and supporting our farmers.
With my Mother’s recipes, my strong desire to support the local farmers, and my passion for bringing wellness; natural healing to all that seek it, Tay & Tholi was born. It has been a long journey but I am proud to share with you, a pure Turmeric Tonic that does not contain any preservatives and is 100% sourced and manufactured in Hawai‘i nei.
The meaning of the words Tay; Tholi is from my native language, Tamil.
Tay meaning Mother
Tholi meaning friend.
From my Mother’s kitchen to you my friend, with Aloha
